History: Family is from a long line of judges in Seattle.
Family lore says that A Griffin was known to barter in kind with the local Native American tribes. Trade beads, plates, paddles, jewelry, etc. have been passed down within the family from his work as both a shop keeper as well as a lawyer. Many of the items were sold as part of the Hortense Lanphere estate but some items were kept and passed on to other family members. The Black Haida argillite stone plate, and some of the trade beads, etc. are from Judge Griffin.
